Marijuana

While marijuana is not the primary focus of the Breathe program, it is closely tied to tobacco use. So we have some important information to share, especially when it comes to marijuana use around children or during pregnancy.

Breathe Resources About Marijuana

This 1-minute video covers the risks of marijuana use during pregnancy as well as the harmful effects for babies and young children if they are exposed to marijuana smoke. If you would like to know more about pregnancy and tobacco use, check out our pregnancy page!

No matter how marijuana/THC products are being consumed, they can be dangerous for babies during pregnancy. Anything mom puts into her body can get to the baby, so marijuana use in any form during pregnancy could cause problems before or after the birth. This worksheet gives some insight into the potential dangers of marijuana use during pregnancy.

Exposure to marijuana smoke can also cause health issues in children, such as asthma attacks and memory issues. This handout goes over fast facts about marijuana use near kids and babies.

Don’t fall for the myths about marijuana being ‘safer’. This worksheet debunks many common myths about marijuana and how it may actually be affecting the body.

Just as there are dangers with tobacco, exposure to secondhand marijuana smoke also poses risks for children. This worksheet offers ideas on how to keep the young people in your life safe from secondhand marijuana smoke, whether it is at home or in public spaces.
