Steps to Complete FOLLOWING Each Breathe Training You Conduct
Congratulations on completing a Breathe training…but there is still important work to be done! Follow these steps to ensure you complete all post-training tasks in a timely manner.
- Type up your Sign-in Sheets/Roster. NEW!!
Use the sign-in sheets from your training and type the information into the Sign-in Sheet/Roster (leaving it in a typed out Word format, not a scanned handwritten document). Save this document so you can communicate with training participants. You will also be sharing it with Health Ed Pros so they can send out 1 month follow-up surveys and add participants to the Breathe E-newsletter.
2. Submit training details and roster to Health Ed Pros. NEW!!
WITHIN ONE WEEK of your Breathe training complete the Breathe Sign-in Sheet Submission with details about your training and upload your typed-up Sign-in Sheet/Roster (from step 1) in Word format (not a pdf!) as instructed.
3. Submit your Pre and Post assessments to Health Ed Pros.
Follow the Evaluation Protocol to submit your pre and post assessment data to Health Ed Pros WITHIN ONE WEEK of your Breathe training. If your training participants completed their pre and post assessments online you get to skip this step!
4. Follow up with the organization’s leadership.
This can be done via phone or email. Thank the organization’s leadership for the opportunity to train their staff, follow up on any information you didn’t have at the training, and provide additional materials if you did not have them on the day of the training or the training was done virtually. This is also a great time to determine a plan for implementing Parent Surveys if you haven’t already. Health Ed Pros will send you the pre and post assessment reports approximately two weeks after your training and you are welcome to share those with the organization’s leadership, if you wish. Follow the Tips for Maintaining a Relationship to ensure tobacco stays on the organization’s radar, the Breathe materials are utilized, and you have opportunities to address challenges that arise and provide further education.
5. Follow up with the training participants.
Send an email to the training participants to share the link to the For Partners webpage so they will have access to all the Breathe materials digitally. Attach the Initial Breathe Training Certificate of Completion (update with your name and the date; participants can write in their own names) if you didn’t already hand out hard copies. This follow-up will help further develop your partnership and ensure everyone knows how to access the Breathe materials and how to contact you if they need assistance.
6. Assist with parent/caregiver outreach and education as requested.
While the main focus of Breathe is to educate an organization’s staff to be able to talk to parents about tobacco, there may be appropriate opportunities for funded partners to interact directly with parents and other caregivers. If you decide to conduct a presentation for parents/caregivers you can use this tailored presentation: Breathe-Parent Presentation PowerPoint 2-19-24 NEW!! Or you could share this recording of the parent presentation with your Breathe Partners so they can show it or send the link to the families they serve. (Also available in Spanish: Breathe Parent Presentation PowerPoint SPANISH 2-27-24; access recording in Spanish here. You may need to enable editing and enable content in pop up boxes in PowerPoints for the videos to play) You may also choose to participate in community events and other activities that allow you to have direct contact with parents. Feel free to use the Breathe parent handouts and parent journal/worksheets to enhance your booth or activity. Whenever possible and appropriate, ask participants to complete the Breathe parent survey.
