How to Grow an Existing Relationship

How to Grow an EXISTING Relationship

  1. Reconnect with your site contact and request a meeting/call at least once a year to tell them about Breathe updates and inquire about any changes in their organization (staff turnover, changes in leadership, etc.).
    • If your site contact has changed, complete the appropriate steps on the list for Developing New Relationships to ensure the partnership stays intact and your new contact is well-informed.
  2. Initiate a new Breathe-MOU if an MOU is not currently in place or it is more than 2 years old.
  3. Schedule and conduct a Breathe Refresher training for their staff and complete all steps in the evaluation protocol. If there has been significant turnover, you can also choose to conduct the Initial-Breathe-Training-Powerpoint-7-23-24 (updated) (given that this presentation has been significantly updated it will seem new even for those previously trained).
  4. Consider Enhanced Activities you can carry out with this organization to have an even greater impact.
  5. If it has been more than 3 years since you reviewed the organization’s tobacco policy and health assessment forms request these items and make appropriate recommendations.
  6. Continue to share the monthly e-newsletter created by Health Ed Pros with the organization as a way to keep the issue of tobacco on their radar throughout the year.
  7. Stay in regular communication (pleasantly persistent!) with your site contact to ensure program deliverables are met, materials are stocked, and they feel supported through any challenges that arise.  Keep a detailed account of your communications and next steps as the relationship progresses.
