Cost

Tobacco takes a toll on your health, damaging the heart and lungs, causing problems with teeth and gums, increasing the risk of cancer, and more. But tobacco use doesn’t just affect your health; it also hurts your finances! The cost of tobacco products can really add up. People who use tobacco also spend more on doctor visits and medications for themselves and family members. They are also more likely to miss work or school, which also hurts their finances.

Take a look at these Breathe resources to learn more about the cost of tobacco.

Breathe Resources

This handout goes over the literal cost of tobacco and how much money someone might spend on tobacco products in a year. It also gives a good reminder of the physical and social costs of using tobacco. It also help you think about what you could do with that money if you ditched tobacco!

Ready to crunch some numbers? This worksheet helps you calculate how much you or a loved one may be spending on tobacco products. Then you can make a plan for how you would spend that money when you quit!
